Quetzalcoatlus

This is a recent reconstruction of one of the largest winged reptiles. The paleontologist believes that it could run on four limbs and fly from a running start. He estimates the weight at 250kg.

Quetzalcoatlus. Quetzales are the national currency in Guatemala, named for the native (and very endangered) "feathered serpent" bird: http://mati.eas.asu.edu/Quetzal/Culture/QuetzFlygLrg.jpg

It wouldn't have had feathers though, feather's are a trait of dinosaurs, the pterosaurs went off on a totally different evolutionary path long before wings.

All the same I feel guilty saying it because it's such a good piece of art- but it's just one of those things I have to mention
